As the City of Laramie takes additional steps to help limit the spread of COVID
-19, we in the Recreation Division have taken some time to outline our plan for the next week.
Full-time staff are currently mostly working remotely, on planning and preparation for the summer season when we believe everything will be coming back to some sense of normalcy. Our Facilities Maintenance team has also made full advantage of the closure to take care of a number of our regular “Down Week” projects so that we won’t have the regular week-long closure in August. We will be updating the gutters in the 8 lane pool which will require a closure in August, but otherwise we will be open!
We will be working next week to contact individuals who have registered for swim lessons. Currently, Red Cross has recommended that regular swim lessons and instruction be postponed to a later date as there is no certainty that individuals will be able to have safe contact in that type of instructional environment. That will also mean the postponement of our regular Aquatics Easter Egg hunt. Serious bummer for us. We will miss the kiddos!
We are also working to bring our regular Summer Camp Registration online. (No more long lines!) This may be the silver lining for the closure—it’s allowing us some time to embark on some long-needed updates. Our plan currently is to open Summer Camp registration on April 7th. We will have more updates coming next week.
